The “Director of the Year” National AwardThe “Director of the Year” National Award has been established by the Independent Directors Association under the auspices of PwC and held annually since 2006. Since 2009 the “Director of the Year” National Award has been co-organized in partnership with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE). The award recognizes personal contribution of directors to the development of companies’ corporate governance and is designed to facilitate the implementation and promotion of corporate governance standards and best practices within the Russian Federation. Applications for participation in 2011 “Director of the Year” National Award nominations shall be accepted from October through October 23, 2011. The following nominations have been established under the “Director of the Year” National Award:
In 2011, as part of the Awards Ceremony for the winners of the “Director of the Year” National Award, the Annual Prize for Active Corporate Policy in Information Disclosure established in 2003 by Interfax and AK&M will be awarded. Assessment criteria have been developed for every “Director of the Year” National Award nomination. Nominees are selected by a wider professional community. Self-nominations are also possible. To participate in the “Director of the Year” National Award, the application form needs to be filled out on the Award’s website or a filled-out printed copy of the questionnaire faxed to +7 (495) 782-15-07. The pre-selection of nominees is made by the Expert Panel. The Expert Panel includes representatives of companies with high standards of operational excellence, representatives of government authorities and international organizations. Once the acceptance of filled-out questionnaires is completed, the Expert Panel makes up a short list and interviews each candidate on the list. Upon reviewing interview results, the Expert Panel decides on the competition winners. Winners and laureates of 2010 “Director of the Year” National Award were represented by leaders of top Russian companies. 2010 winners: Elvira Sakhipzadovna Nabiullina, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, in the nomination “Contribution to the Development of the Institution of Independent Directors” Anna Grigorievna Belova, Independent Director, Sheremetyevo International Airport JSC, in the nomination “Independent Director of the Year” Mikhail Maratovich Fridman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alfa Group Consortium, in the nomination “Chairman of the Board of Directors: Contribution to the Development of Corporate Governance” Maxim Aleksandrovich Kalinin, Company Secretary, Mobilniye TeleSystemy, in the nomination “Corporate Governance Director – Company Secretary” Laureates and winners of 2011 “Director of the Year” National Award will receive their awards and congratulations at the Awards Ceremony to be held on November 22, 2011 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel located at 3 Tverskaya Street, Moscow.
